My Lord, per your request I have poured over all known records with the Imperial Library pertaining to the Adeptus Astartes, in our search to root out the heritics within the Emperor's Legions. My findings, to say the least, are somewhat disturbing. Not only have I found a large number of the Adeputs Astartes who have gone to the calling of heresy, but I have found several Chapters that have left the Emperor's light for the simple calling of coin. I can gratefully report that all of the Astartes Chapters that owe their existence to the Inquistion are without question, loyal to our Lord and Emperor (may he be praised forever).
I am also happy to report that there are by far a larger number of Loyal Chapter overall then the Heretics and mercenaries combine.
Although the trend I have found in some of the younger Chapters is that they are less apt to show signs of strict devotion to the Imperium they are also less apt to turn towards Chaos. I believe this shows how the new indoctrination programs we have forced upon many new Chapters are working.
I have also found several Chapters that are teetering on the edge and have managed to stay within the Emperor's Divine Light (they may have to be dealt with severly if they are deemed to be susceptible to Chaos). I admit I have far greater concerns about some of the older Chapters, such as the Blood Angels and Dark Angels, turning to the call of the Dark Powers and even now their Chapter rituals are barely within acceptable norms.
Enclosed in my report is information on all the Chapters of which we continue to have record of (see file 458/F36B6.729). I have tagged those which I believe need to be watched more closely and I have also marked those that have been lost to Empire of Mankind.
